Frequently Asked Questions
"Where's my jumper"? π "Are those my feet?"
1. Do I need to become a member of your website?π·οΈ
Becoming a member is free. The member's area is for registered clients of Cocoon Clinical Psychology and lets clients access content and resources for free or reduced cost as part of assessment or therapy packages they have paid for. The member's area is a protected and secure area where clients can download relevant forms and questionnaires, upload their completed forms and required documentation, and book further appointments which are restricted to registered clients only. Psychological services are professional services, and many require prior screening for client suitability by a licenced clinician. Such services are only offered to clients who have completed an initial consultation. When a client registers for access to the members area, it must be approved.
2. Are your reports recognised by the HSE?π
Yes. I am a chartered member of the Psychology Society of Ireland (PSI) and I have worked as a HSE clinical psychologist for over 15 years. I have over 20years experience working with children, adolescents and adults with a very diverse range of presentations and abilities. My services and reports follow strict evidence-based and best practice guidelines proposed by professional bodies such as NICE, PSI, APA, WHO, and Irish and EU legislation. All reports provided for diagnostic purposes involve a holistic, bio-psycho-social individualised profile and tailored recommendations for each person and are multidisciplinary (MDT) informed where clinically indicated.
3. How do I know what services or assessments me or my child need? π€
Services in Ireland can be difficult to navigate, and pathways are not clear. This is where holistic, person-centred assessment and formulation is crucial. By booking an initial consultation with me, I can advise and support you in gaining a clearer understanding of you or your family's specific needs and any support that is available to you publicly or privately. At Cocoon Clinical Psychology all assessments of children begin with a holistic whole-brain screening of strengths and support needs. This ensures that the whole child is considered, and the correct information is gathered to inform individually tailored treatments. As many aspects of our cognitive functioning overlap in a complex interplay of "symptomology" and observable behaviour, stand-alone testing of such things as ADHD criteria or Autistic criteria used by the medicalised-models of behaviour, often lead to misdiagnosis, an unhelpful collection of overlapping "labels", or over pathologizing of "typical" childhood and neurodivergent behaviours. By booking a Holistic Profiling assessment, I can screen for strengths and challenges across developmental areas and provide feedback and recommendations which consider the whole individual. The second stage of assessment (if required) will then focus on conducting formal diagnostic assessment if indicated. Additionally, I will provide or advise on best-practice therapeutic interventions to address any identified support needs. All assessment reports include tailored recommendations to home and school as indicated by formal assessments.
4. How do I book an appointment? ποΈ
Click HERE or on the "Make a referral" tab. You will be asked to fill in a web form and then hit Submit.
Once you have submitted a referral form, you will be directed to my Bookings page to select a date and make payment. Dr Jill Woods will review your submitted referral form prior to your appointment.
Once payment is confirmed your appointment is secured. Payment must be made within 24hrs of booking, or your appointment will remain available to others. Payments is required with a minimum of 72hours before any appointments, with exceptions only for short notice or urgent appointments. If you have requested to be placed on our waitlist (to be informed of any short notice cancelations) you may receive these via email or text with 24-48 hrs notice. Cancellation appointments are offered to the next 3 people on our waitlist on a first come first served basis. Payments can be made via cash or electronic in-person methods for very short notice/waitlist appointments once your booking has been confirmed.
Further appointments can be booked via the members area or sent as booking links via email or text as agreed with your clinician.
5. How do I sign up for workshops and courses?βπΌ
Some workshops and courses are open to all and can be found in my online shop as they become available. However, many of the courses and therapies I offer are only available to registered clients who have been screened for suitability via initial consultation. Registered clients have access to the members-only area of my website following their initial consultation, and can then access further services, resources and products suitable to their identified needs.
6. I need a certificate of attendance for therapeutic services do you provide these? π
Yes. Please inform me when you are registering for a course or workshop whether you require a letter or certificate. Most courses and workshop include a basic certificate of completion. However, there will be an additional charge for court letters if this certificate is not acceptable for your circumstances.
Is my data and information protected?π

I use licensed Microsoft business products and services which adhere to strict privacy practices and data encryption. My website is 100% Irish and is a secure site complying with GDPR and data protection laws. Please see the privacy statement.
